BODY
WORLDS 3 For Health Care Professionals
Knowing about your body helps
prevent illness
Every
day, health care professionals are called upon to practice
preventative medicine by explaining health risks to patients – with
the ultimate goal of improving public health. With the same
goal, doctors, nurses and other health care providers are
asked to explain the pathophysiology of illnesses to the
sick so that they better understand the situation and better
accept and follow the treatment they are prescribed.
In this light, BODY WORLDS 3 & The Story of the Heart is
a perfect part of educating the public about health care. BODY
WORLDS 3 supports public health education by providing
an insightful and memorable view of both healthy and diseased
organs and body systems. Imagine a person suffering from hardening
of the coronary vessels who has been given this diagnosis by
a doctor. Visiting the exhibition and seeing a real cardiac
muscle with its delicate vascular system may bring them to
realize, more vividly than standard patient education can,
just how easy it is for the small vessels to become blocked
if dangers such as nicotine and high cholesterol levels are
not addressed.
Experiencing
human anatomy should be an option for the general public
as well as for doctors or health care professionals. BODY
WORLDS 3 gives you the chance to invite your patients
to learn more about the human body, and to examine anatomy
in ways that medical studies or even working as a surgeon
cannot provide. Plus, the exhibit may offer the opportunity
to speak more openly about illness and death when talking
to patients.
Invite
your patients, colleagues and friends to share this experience!
